Government must take responsibility for attack on Nurul Haque Nur: Asif Mahmud

Desk Reports :

Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, advisor to the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has said that the interim government must take responsibility for the attack on Nurul Haque Nur, president of the People’s Rights Council and former VP of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU). He said that the government must resolve this. The government is determined to ensure that no one dares to commit such heinous incidents in the future by prosecuting this attack.

The advisor said these words while visiting the president of the People’s Rights Council at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday afternoon.

Asif Mahmud said, “This government must take responsibility for the attack. The government must resolve this. The government is determined to ensure that no one dares to commit such heinous incidents in the future by prosecuting this attack.”

“There is an effort to bring back the Awami League through the National Party. Fascist forces are now demonstrating their power in various formats. We are trying to satisfy the anger of defeat against those who were in the leadership of the July mass uprising. We want to give them a stern warning.’

Asif said, ‘A strong investigation committee has already been formed to bring those involved in this to justice. I have learned that even before last Friday’s program, the People’s Rights Council and Nurul Haque Nur were threatened. The government will investigate who made such threats, which institutions are doing fascist work even within the framework of the state, and take necessary measures.’

The local government advisor said, ‘We need to understand and know the difference between a mob and a political program. How does a political party become a mob? How do you call a registered party’s program a mob? First of all, the attack came from the Jatiya Party. Such a heated situation can arise between political parties. But it would not be right to call it a mob and neutralize one party and give facilities to another.

‘The National Party is a specific and identified fascist. We have seen how the National Party has repeatedly legitimized the fascist parliament of the Awami League in the past. How it has created an artificial parliament in Bangladesh by bringing prescriptions from India, showing artificial democracy. If anyone tries to support these identified fascists in any way, we must all resist it together.’
